Here is your Mi’kmaq History month fact of the day. There are four sacred medicines in the Mi`kmaq culture. They are: sweet grass, sage, cedar and ceremonial tobacco. These medicines can be used in a variety of ways, from ceremonies to being carried in a medicine pouch.

Games in the Library! Drop into the Library this week during lunch for Board Games – Scrabble, Monopoly, Checkers, Trivial Pursuit and Battleship!

Cross Country – There will be a mandatory Cross Country meeting today at lunch in room 327 for all runners who intend to run at this week’s regional event.  There will also be a practice today at Upland Park at 4:00.  See Mr. Hubley for details in room 327.

Youth Health Action will meet in the Youth Health Centre (Room 209 – across from the Gym) today at lunch time.

Girls Varsity Soccer – A reminder that there is no soccer practice today after school, as many of the girls on the team are still away at Nationals.

Girls Varsity Soccer Clothing – Did you order a hoodie sweatshirt or team jacket? Please bring your payment to our first regionals game on Thursday!

All Girls Physical Education 10 and 11 Today’s class is in room 340 to complete our football written assignment. Tomorrow we are out on our field trip to I Heart Bikes. Permission slips are expected today. We will meet in the student exchange at 9:30am tomorrow.  Please plan to dress for the waterfront. It will be cold. Mitts and proper pants, and a hoodie will be helpful.

Coalitiohttps://outlook.hrsb.ns.ca/owa/?ae=Item&t=IPM.Note&a=New#n for Kids: There will be an information meeting in room 132, at lunch on Wednesday, for the Coalition for Kids opportunity to travel to Poland and grant the wishes of terminally ill children. All are welcome.

Math Competition – Any students interested in participating in the upcoming Sun Life Canadian Open Mathematics Competition should see Mr. Richardson in room 333 at lunch during this week. This is a great challenge for those interested in solving some unique problems. The contest will be held on Thursday, November 6th during C and D Blocks (and might run into lunch), and the registration deadline is this Friday. To register you must bring your fees ($12.50) to Mr. Richardson in room 333. ​

NSSSA: There will be an important meeting for all students interested in attending this year’s Metro NSSSA Conference Friday at lunch in room 302. The conference will be held November 15th-16th at Mount Saint Vincent University. All interested students are encouraged to attend.
