Here is your Mi’kmaq History month fact of the day. The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Aboriginal way of life are built around the 7 sacred teachings. Each teaching is accompanied by a sacred animal. Every day, for the next 7 days we will be sharing one of these teachings.

We will be recognizing honours and high honours students from the 2013-2014 school year tomorrow in the morning. Award certificates will be handed out for students who achieved honours or high honours. Students will be called down by grade and category of award during this time. Students, please check the list posted outside the main office to see if you are a recipient of a CPA academic award. Congratulations!

Yearbook Committee:  First formal meeting will be today, 3:30-4:30 in Room 239.  Our representative from Josten’s will be attending and will explain the many roles and responsibilities of yearbook committee members.  Meet this year’s editor and help choose a cover design.  See you then!

GSA will meet in the Youth Health Centre (Room 209 – across from the gym) at lunch time today. Model UN – is cancelled today – we will meet next Monday after school in room 228.

Cross Country – There will be a practice today at Upland Park beginning at 4:00 for all runners.  There will also be a meeting for senior boys at lunch today in room 327.

Interested grade 11 and 2 students know that representatives from Carleton, Western, and Saint Mary’s University will be here this week.  All sessions will occur at lunch in room 235

Tuesday – Carleton located in Ottawa and has over 25,000 students.  It is a comprehensive university, but is noted for its engineering, international business, public affairs and journalism programs.

Wednesday – Western with over 30,000 students is located in London Ontario.  It is a world renowned university excelling in social sciences, law and its unique business program (Ivey).

Thursday – SMU is in town – enough said

Potential grads also note that most local universities and the community college are having open houses this week/weekend.  Great time to see your future digs and possibly get your application in. Come to guidance to get dates and time, or look on the internet for how to register.

Fashion Show – First fashion show meeting this Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Smith’s room (232). All Welcome!

Service Learning! Interested in learning how to lead a service learning project? The fall service learning workshop is Thursday. If you’re interested, contact Ms. Michael in room 132 (hmichael@hrsb.ca)

Boys Volleyball – A reminder to the boys v.ball team to bring their fees in to Ms. Bucci in order to get uniforms.
