Mr. Milligan would like to thank the teacher and student volunteers on the Valedictorian Selection Committee.  They stayed after school yesterday to judge speeches by thirteen Valedictorian candidates.   Thank you to all of the candidates who were courageous enough to deliver speeches yesterday.  All of the speeches were impressive, but the following three finalists will move on to the next stage of the selection process:  Meagan Brown, Liz Outhit, and Ampai Thamachuk.  These three students will deliver their speeches to the grade 12 student body next Tuesday during B-Block. Potential graduates will then vote to choose the Valedictorian for the Class of 2016.

Donations towards the Fort McMurray fire (which has spread to over 354,000 hectares) will be collected during B-block classes until Thursday May 26th.  A bake sale also in support will take place on Friday May 20th in the main foyer.  All collections will go to the Red Cross disaster relief fund, earmarked to support the community of Fort McMurray.

TECH CLUB: The Microsoft HoloLens demonstrations are cancelled today and will be held next Wednesday at lunch in Computer Lab 224. Volunteer this weekend at the Bluenose Marathon: The Bluenose Marathon Committee is in need of volunteers to help out during the Marathon Weekend (May 21st and 22nd – they also have positions on Friday, May 20) with various volunteer opportunities. Volunteer at the Bedford South Spring Fair: For the past couple of years, a students from CPA have volunteered to help at the Bedford South School Spring Fair. It will be on Friday, May 27 from 5-8pm. If interested, contact Debra McKnight at bsshsa@hotmail.com or text her at 902-719-3283. They need help from 4-9 pm, but will take any help within that time frame.

Volunteer at SuperNOVA Science camp this summer: The coordinator for volunteers at SuperNOVA science camp (at DAL) will be here on Tuesday May 24th at noon in the library quite room to speak about the opportunity to volunteer with their summer camp. The presentation focuses on the benefits of volunteering, developing skills in leadership, time management, working with youth, and conflict resolution. Google SuperNOVA summer camp to learn what it is all about.
