Model UN: Club fair was a great success and the Model UN club has a resounding 55 members who have signed up and are willing to solve major global issues. Our first meeting will take place on Monday, 3 October in room 230 from 3:30 to 5:00pm. Even if you did not get a chance to sign up at the fair, you are more than welcome to attend MUN.
Girl’s JV Soccer: Don’t forget to drop off your completed forms and cheques to Mr. Penney in room 341.
The GSA will meet on Wed. at lunch in the Youth Health Centre (2nd floor across from the gym). Feel free to bring your lunch. Please feel welcome to come discuss your ideas and plan activities you would like to do this year. A leader or 2 co leaders to plan the agenda and facilitate future meetings would be great. All welcome!
Me to We – There will be the first meeting for Me to We Thursday at lunch in room 325. All welcome. Also, those who are interested in volunteering for We Day in November are reminded that the online application goes live Wednesday at 8:30 am on the WE Day site, please register.
The Cheetah Perspective: For those who want to write for the school newspaper, we will be holding our first meeting of the 2016/17 school year on Thursday at lunch in room 340.
Yearbook Meeting: We will meet in Room 335 on Monday, October 3rd. All newcomers welcome!
Attention grade 12s – our first presentation of the year from post-secondary schools will be taking place today and Wednesday. On Tuesday the Ivey Business School will be here. This school is part of the University of Western Ontario and is well known for its specialization in business programs.
On Wednesday Mount Saint Vincent University will be here to speak with students. The Mount is known for being a smaller school with a variety of unique and specialized programs. Both presentations will take place in the Library Quiet Room and will begin at 12:00.
CPA will sponsor up to 3 Loran Award candidates. Applications can be picked up in Student Services. They are due on Monday, October 3 at 3:25 p.m. If you are not chosen as a sponsored applicant or you miss the deadline, you may still apply as a direct pool applicant on the website www.loranscholar.ca
Eligibility Criteria for High School Students
Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.
If you are currently undertaking a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities, after uninterrupted full-time studies, you may still be eligible and should apply to the direct pool.
