Chess Club: Yes, it is back. If you are a chess enthusiast or just want to find out how to play, then Chess Club is the place for you. The 2016-17 inaugural session will start today at lunch in room 230.

Board game club’s first after school session is today in room 230, starting at 3:30.

Varsity soccer team meeting in Mr. de la Chevotière’s room 338/339 at lunch today. Please bring registration forms and fees. No money, no footy!

Me to We – There will be the first meeting for Me to We today at lunch in room 325. All welcome. Also, those who are interested in volunteering for We Day in November are reminded that the online application goes live Wednesday at 8:30 am on the WE Day site, please register.

The Cheetah Perspective: For those who want to write for the school newspaper, we will be holding our first meeting of the 2016/17 school year today at lunch in room 340.

Bedford Public Library will be visiting today at lunch – big games, new books and on-the-spot sign up for a library card.

Model UN: Club fair was a great success and the Model UN club has a resounding 55 members who have signed up and are willing to solve major global issues. Our first meeting will take place on Monday in room 230 from 3:30 to 5:00pm. Even if you did not get a chance to sign up at the fair, you are more than welcome to attend MUN.

Yearbook Meeting:  We will meet in Room 335 on Monday.  All newcomers welcome!

CPA will sponsor up to 3 Loran Award candidates. Applications can be picked up in Student Services. They are due on Monday, October 3 at 3:25 p.m. If you are not chosen as a sponsored applicant or you miss the deadline, you may still apply as a direct pool applicant on the website www.loranscholar.ca

Eligibility Criteria for High School Students

Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

If you are currently undertaking a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities, after uninterrupted full-time studies, you may still be eligible and should apply to the direct pool. Loran Scholars may pursue undergraduate studies at the following universities only: Alberta, British Columbia, Calgary, Dalhousie, Guelph, King’s, Laval, McGill, McMaster, Manitoba, Memorial, Moncton, Montréal, Mount Allison, New Brunswick, Ottawa, Queen’s, Ryerson, Saskatchewan, Simon Fraser, Toronto, Waterloo, Western
