SAC – Any students interested in joining CPA’s SAC, please leave your name at the office.
The GSA will be having a bake sale today at lunch in front of the Cheetahs. So bring your money and buy something yummy! This is a fundraiser for their various activities this year.
Drama Club – lunch hour Drama club has been postponed until tomorrow at lunch.
Vimy Trip 2017: There will be an important meeting for the students traveling to Vimy at lunch today in room 231. All members must attend.
The Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge will be written in November, and is open high school students of any grade. Please see Mrs. van Donkelaar at lunch in room 326 today to register.
Japan Exchange Trip: If you have a hard copy of the application form please deliver this to Mr. Hall before the end of the day. For those who have an electronic version you can email this to email@example.com
Chess Club: will meet on Thursday at lunch in room 230. All are welcome to participate.
Anyone interested in participating in the multicultural day please sign up outside guidance as soon as possible. There will be a meeting in room 206 on Wednesday. Ambassadors and international students are encouraged to be there.
Picture Retakes – will take place on Thursday!
Girls run club is held every Tuesday after school. We meet in room 207 at 3:30. All welcome, no experience needed and no fee to attend.

Yearbook Cover Contest: Creative Cheetahs, take heed! Design the cover of Charles P. Allen’s 2016-2017 yearbook and you win a) a free yearbook b) full proof of cover (great for portfolios) and c) glory. Your cover must include the name of our school (Charles P. Allen), the year (2016-2017), our school colours (royal blue and white) and our mascot (cheetah). Deadline for submissions is October 28. Please see Ms. Payne in 335 if you have further questions.
IMPORTANT CHANGE IN DUE DATE: Students who are interested in hosting the Japanese students who will be arriving in April must take note of a change in the due date for the application. YOUR APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BY OCTOBER 11 not the 17th as previously announced.
Post-secondary presentations: Two more universities will be visiting CPA his week to speak to students about their programs, admissions and scholarships. Today at lunch, the University of British Columbia will be here and on Thursday the University of New Brunswick will be speaking with students. Both presentations will be taking place at lunch in the Library Quiet Room.
Grade 12’s – are you unable to pay for post secondary education? Check out the 2017 Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarships – The Horatio Alger Association of Canada provides $650,000 annually in need-based scholarship support for deserving students in all Canadian provinces and territories. Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in their final year of high school with financial need (family income under $65,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record. CEGEP students in Quebec, and all Canadian students in their final year of high school are eligible to apply in English or French. The application deadline is October 25, 2016. Grade 12’s – What’s the dumbest thing you have ever done with your money? Grade 12 students across Canada are invited to confess their contained financial calamity story by submitting their true-life handiwork to the CEWC 2016 Essay Contest. Prizes range from $1000 to $5000, with over 20 prizes to be won. Write an original essay that describes the dumbest thing you’ve done with your money and what you learned from it (the “Essay”). Your Essay must be between 900 and 1000 words. Essays must be submitted between Sept. 12 and Oct. 17, 2016.
