Jack.org – Would the members of Jack.org who signed up to attend the Summit on Nov 19th at Halifax West, please drop by the Youth Health Centre today or Monday. You need to do a brief skill survey to assist the folks who are compiling the agenda/activities for that day.
Girls Rugby – We would like to have a short meeting to discuss to possibility for taking the girls rugby team to the Rothesay tournament in April 2017. If you have played previously or want to try please meet at lunch on Monday in room 208.
Remembrance Day Committee: Please attend a meeting Monday at lunch to begin planning our assembly for Remembrance Day.
Film Society – There will be a meeting on Tuesday at lunch in room 130 for any student interested in being part of the CPA Film Society. We watch and discuss quality films, while exploring making our own short films. No experience required; all are welcome.
Yearbook Cover Contest: Creative Cheetahs, take heed! Design the cover of Charles P. Allen’s 2016-2017 yearbook and you win a) a free yearbook b) full proof of cover (great for portfolios) and c) glory. Your cover must include the name of our school (Charles P. Allen), the year (2016-2017), our school colours (royal blue and white) and our mascot (cheetah). Deadline for submissions is October 28. Please see Ms. Payne in 335 if you have further questions.
Peer tutoring is now available – students in need of a tutor should email: CPApeertutoring@gmail.com. We are also accepting applications for students who wish to be a tutor: math, sciences and languages – if you speak a 2nd or 3rd language – we definitely want you! See Ms. Morgan in the Library asap.
Grade 12’s – are you unable to pay for post secondary education? Check out the 2017 Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarships – The Horatio Alger Association of Canada provides $650,000 annually in need-based scholarship support for deserving students in all Canadian provinces and territories. Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in their final year of high school with financial need (family income under $65,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record. CEGEP students in Quebec, and all Canadian students in their final year of high school are eligible to apply in English or French. The application deadline is October 25, 2016.
