The Boys JV Basketball tryouts will take place in CPA gym this week. Second tryouts are today after school from 3:30pm until 6pm. Final tryouts are Thursday morning from 7am until 9am. All are welcome to tryout for the team. If you are interested to tryout for the team you must show up to the first tryout on Tuesday morning. If you have concerns about being able to make tryouts please see Mr. Gray in room 234.
Attention Staff and Students – Flu season is here. The flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against the flu & to help prevent its spread throughout the community. The flu vaccine is FREE for everyone 6 months of age and older. It is available at: your family Dr’s office, Walk In Clinics, and most pharmacies (by a Pharmacist). Any questions or concerns–drop by YHC and talk to Lynda.

Yearbook Cover Contest: Creative Cheetahs, take heed! Design the cover of Charles P. Allen’s 2016-2017 yearbook and you win a) a free yearbook b) full proof of cover (great for portfolios) and c) glory. Your cover must include the name of our school (Charles P. Allen), the year (2016-2017), our school colours (royal blue and white) and our mascot (cheetah). Deadline for submissions is October 28. Please see Ms. Payne in 335 if you have further questions.
Peer tutoring is now available – students in need of a tutor should email: CPApeertutoring@gmail.com. We are also accepting applications for students who wish to be a tutor: math, sciences and languages – if you speak a 2nd or 3rd language – we definitely want you! See Ms. Morgan in the Library asap.
GRADE 12’s Scholarship Info – The Peter Kohler Scholarship is awarded to a student who hopes to enter their first year of full-time studies in an Engineering Program at a University in Atlantic Canada in September 2017. This award is open to both graduating high school students, and students from a community college. Applicants will be adjudicated upon the basis of their financial need and their character, with preference given to students who display entrepreneurial spirit. The award is valued at $50,000, distributed over a period of four years – an outstanding opportunity for young Nova Scotian innovators who are facing financial hardship to excel and flourish. The Scotiabank National Scholarship Program – Due: November 2nd. 30 – $500 dollars each. The scholarship is open to yconic members who are:
|· Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or international students with a valid student visa (permit must be for one year or longer)|
|· 16 years old or older at the time of application|
|· High school or CEGEP students planning to enroll in a certificate, diploma or degree program in the 2017/2018 or 2018/2019 academic year at a Canadian college, university or trade school|
