Girls Varsity Basketball – spirit game today vs. West. Come down to cheer on the girls, please wear your blue and white.

The Youth Health Centre is hosting a monthly drop in for Phoenix Youth Outreach Program. The first drop in is Tuesday from 10am- 12:00 in the YHC (Room 209). All are welcome to drop in and chat with Greg or Alana. They have an amazing program that can provide you with the supports that focus on your individual and immediate needs—-in a safe, respectful environment where you can be yourself. Services are all free, non judgemental and confidential. Must be 16 yrs old or almost 16 to access these services. Light refreshments provided.

Attention all Jack.org students who are attending the Summit at Halifax West this Saturday, please bring your emergency contact info to Lynda in the Youth Health Centre if you have not already done so.

For those registered to write the Canadian Intermediate Math Contest and Canadian Senior Math Contest, if you have not already, please join GoogleClass 5k7842x for information regarding next Wednesday.

Winter Coffee House – sign-up sheet is now available by the Cheetah Spot. The event is on Thursday December 15th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. As always the sign-up sheet is first come first serve and we will accepting 15-20 acts depending on the length of the acts. Sign up fast if you want to ensure a spot!

Grad Photos – Grad photos will take place here beginning Monday. Potential grads can now book online for photos sittings! To ensure everyone gets a time slot, 1 day at a time is open. Once days are mainly filled, the next day will be opened. The link to the website is http://calnenphotography.setmore.com/ Note – students who do not wish to order a photo package are not required to pay the $15 sitting fee. It’s important that every grad have his/her picture taken for the yearbook. Don’t miss out!!

Upcoming University Visits – On Tuesday the University of Toronto will be speaking to students at 8:30 in the morning in the Library Quiet Room and later in the afternoon, McGill University will be here. They will also be in the Library Quiet Room and will speak to students beginning at 2:00 pm.

On Wednesday, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador will be speaking to students during lunch in the Library Quiet Room. Everyone is welcome to come out and learn all about their programs and the magnificent province that is Newfoundland and Labrador.

Grade 12’s – Scholarships- Just a reminder, in addition to checking announcements you can also find information about upcoming scholarships on Twitter and the scholarship bulletin board (outside the guidance office), or you can speak with your guidance counsellor.

The Peter Kohler Scholarship is awarded to a student who hopes to enter their first year of full-time studies in an Engineering Program at a University in Atlantic Canada in September 2017. This award is open to both graduating high school students, and students from a community college. Applicants will be adjudicated upon the basis of their financial need and their character, with preference given to students who display entrepreneurial spirit. The award is valued at $50,000, distributed over a period of four years – an outstanding opportunity for young Nova Scotian innovators who are facing financial hardship to excel and flourish. Queen’s (university) Chancellor’s Scholarship – Those who were chosen to complete an application to be considered for this nomination, must have the completed applications in to Mrs. Swimm by November 24th at 3:30pm.  If you were not approached by Mrs. Swimm you did not meet the criteria.  You are welcome to come and talk to Mrs. Swimm should you have any questions or concerns.

Queen’s University Major Admission Awards – Due: December 1st, 2016 – Criteria: Students who demonstrate superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership qualities can apply for a major admission award at Queen’s university.
