The West Bedford Soccer Club is looking for volunteer coaches this summer for their kid league (ages 3-7). If you enjoy soccer and would like to add volunteer experiences to your resume please stop into Mrs. LeBlanc’s classroom 320 today at lunch to learn more or e-mail Krista.LeBlanc@hrsb.ca for details. Commitment is 1 to 2 evenings a week from 6-7pm.

Programming Competition – Any student interested in the Dalhousie Programming Contest must register at http://web.cs.dal.ca/~dpc/h/. The contest is in two phases: Phase 1 is online, and Phase 2 is at Dalhousie on April 22nd. There will be a meeting today at lunch in 224. Grad Photos for Yearbook: Deadline for submission of grad photos is May 1st. Submissions are to be sent to this address: email@example.com If the photo was taken at the school, the photographer will forward a copy to us directly even if you did not buy a package. If you are submitting a photo taken elsewhere (Walmart, etc), please send a digital copy to the above address. Please include your name with the submission. Pictures of a proof will not be accepted.
Yearbook: Due to challenges this year, we have opted for an August delivery of the yearbook so we can include pictures from end of year activities such as prom, outdoor carnival and graduation. More information on yearbook will follow in the coming weeks. Please refer to the CPA website for further notices.
Attention Grade 12s: An updated Potential Grad list has been posted on the bulletin board outside of student services. Please check the list to ensure you are on it; if you feel there is an error, please speak with your guidance counsellor.
Grade 11’s only – any students wanting to apply for the Lieutenant Governor’s Award can pick up an application from Mrs. Swimm in guidance. Applications will be available until today at 3:30 pm. Application forms will be due to Mrs. Swimm by April 12th at 3:30pm. Late or incomplete applications will NOT be considered after this time.
What is the Lieutenant Governor’s Award? Over the last 60 years, successive Lieutenant Governors have established a number of citations and awards as a way to recognize the outstanding achievement of Nova Scotians of all ages. These are often presented in partnership with provincial, community and professional organizations, helping to build an understanding of the important connection between the Crown and all citizens of the province.
Criteria – The Lieutenant Governor’s Medal is awarded to two students in grade 11 who have demonstrated the following: qualities of leadership and service in the school and community, and commendable performance in the courses in which they are enrolled.

Champion of the Environment Scholarship – Are you a grade 12 student who has demonstrated commitment to the environment through your school or community? Divert Nova Scotia is offering seven scholarships to students who have exemplified leadership in protecting our environment. Deadline: April 22nd, 2017. Students can come to guidance and pick up a hard copy of the application from Mrs. Swimm, or go to http://divertns.ca/impact/events-contests/scholarship-competition
Pengrowth Scholarship– Any grade12 students interested in signing up for the Pengrowth Energy Scholarship can do so outside the guidance office. The criteria for the scholarship is on the sign-up sheet. Please read it and make sure you fit the criteria before signing your name. You will have until today @ 3:30 pm to sign your name. Mrs. Swimm will contact you on Monday April 10th, to fill out an application form.
Gregory P. Pentz Memorial Scholarship – Greg Pentz played soccer for many years as a youth, and refereed when he was no longer able to play. This scholarship is in memory of Greg and his contribution to soccer, and to raise awareness in other players of the need to become involved in other capacities. Four $500 awards for students within the boundaries of the Suburban District and its member clubs. Criteria:
- Must be in your last year of High School and have been accepted into a post-secondary institution (university, college, technical school, trade school, etc) in a program leading to a degree/diploma. a) Played for a Suburban District club(s).
- b) Was a coach or assistant coach for a Suburban District club(s) in seasons, when you did not play.
- 2. For the last 3 years, either:
