Attention grade 12s – Grad breakfast/assembly will take place tomorrow at 9:00am in the cafeteria. This information session and kick-off to graduation and prom will give grade 12s all the information you need to know as well as important dates and deadlines. Grade 12s will receive their breakfast ticket for a free hot breakfast during C Block on Wednesday. Students who have a free can pick up their ticket in guidance during C Block. This ticket will also be used for some awesome prize draws including a chance to win a prom ticket. You must be in attendance in order to win. Please ensure you line up to get your breakfast as soon as you arrive at school on Thursday as the assembly will be getting underway promptly.

Grade 10s and 11s, please note that the cafeteria will be closed from 9am-10:15am.

Asian Heritage Month: To the talented dancers or singers of CPA, we are hosting a performance onstage composed of traditional folk songs, instruments, dancing, etc. to celebrate Asian Heritage month. If you are interested in performing, please contact amypeng2000@gmail.com.

The cafeteria will be providing a SUB BAR on Tuesdays & Thursdays in the student exchange at lunch! 6” subs/wraps-$5.00, 12” subs-$6.95. Cash only at the sub bar but you can pre-pay with debit at the cafeteria.

GSA – meeting today at lunch in the Youth Health Centre to discuss all final preparations for OPA day this Friday. Hope all members can attend this meeting so we can finalize our plans and attend to the details.

OPA Day – This Friday we are celebrating OPA day. At lunch time on Friday, there will be a Lunch n Learn session in Room 208. Pride Health Coordinator will do presentation on ‘Navigating the Health System’ for LGBTQ and Transgender youth. A casual atmosphere with time for questions. No sign up, JUST COME.

Grad Photos for Yearbook:  Deadline for submission of grad photos is May 1st. Submissions are to be sent to this address:  cpayearbook16.17@gmail.com If the photo was taken at the school, the photographer will forward a copy to us directly even if you did not buy a package. If you are submitting a photo taken elsewhere (Walmart, etc), please send a digital copy to the above address.  Please include your name with the submission. Pictures of a proof will not be accepted.

Yearbook:  Due to challenges this year, we have opted for an August delivery of the yearbook so we can include pictures from end of year activities such as prom, outdoor carnival and graduation.  More information on yearbook will follow in the coming weeks.  Please refer to the CPA website for further notices.

Attention Grade 12s: An updated Potential Grad list has been posted on the bulletin board outside of student services. Please check the list to ensure you are on it; if you feel there is an error, please speak with your guidance counsellor.

Information regarding the following scholarships can be found on the bulletin board outside the guidance office.  Please check often.   Champion of the Environment Scholarship – Are you a grade 12 student who has demonstrated commitment to the environment through your school or community?  Divert Nova Scotia is offering seven scholarships to students who have exemplified leadership in protecting our environment.  Deadline: April 22nd, 2017. Students can come to guidance and pick up a hard copy of the application from Mrs. Swimm, or go to http://divertns.ca/impact/events-contests/scholarship-competition

Pengrowth Energy Scholarship – Just a reminder to those who received an application from Mrs. Swimm for the Pengrowth Scholarship that applications are due Tuesday April 25th at 3:30 pm. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

ROBBIE & JEAN SHAW SCHOLARSHIP – This scholarship will offer annual post-secondary grant(s) to former or present IWK patients.  Applicants may be entering any year of post-secondary studies to be eligible.  Criteria – minimum average of 75%, you must have been a former patient of the IWK, you must have community involvement, and you must write a 1000 word essay. Please pick up an application form from Ms. Lowe or Mrs. Swimm in guidance if interested.  Applications are due April 28th, 2017.

Gregory P. Pentz Memorial Scholarship – Greg Pentz played soccer for many years as a youth, and refereed when he was no longer able to play.  This scholarship is in memory of Greg and his contribution to soccer, and to raise awareness in other players of the need to become involved in other capacities.  Four $500 awards for students within the boundaries of the Suburban District and its member clubs.  Criteria:

  1.  Must be in your last year of High School and have been accepted into a post-secondary institution (university, college, technical school, trade school, etc) in a program leading to a degree/diploma. a) Played for a Suburban District club(s).
  2. b) Was a coach or assistant coach for a Suburban District club(s) in seasons, when you did not play.
  3. 2.  For the last 3 years, either:
  1. c) Was a referee within the Suburban District in seasons when you did not play. Please see Mrs. Swimm in guidance for an application form. Applications much reach the address provided on the application before May 31st.
