Our Scholarship Book is now updated for this year. Please take the time to go though the many scholarships offered as well as check out the other scholarship links by visiting our scholarship page.
The evening will start at 6:30 with a 30 minute presentation from CPA guidance counsellors concerning the general post-secondary applications processes, admissions, registration and scholarships. The presentation will be followed by 3 breakout sessions with local universities and the community college.
Post-secondary presenters will focus on academic programs, admission procedures, scholarship info and a host of facts that will hopefully make the decision easier as to what school/ program your student should attend.
Each session will consist of a ~20 minute presentation followed by a ~10 minute questions and answer period. If you have further needs, please feel free to talk to the individual reps at the end of the evening.

The Peter Kohler Scholarship is awarded to a student who hopes to enter their first year of full-time studies in an Engineering Program at a University in Atlantic Canada in September 2017. This award is open to both graduating high school students, and students from a community college. Applicants will be adjudicated upon the basis of their financial need and their character, with preference given to students who display entrepreneurial spirit. The award is valued at $50,000, distributed over a period of four years – an outstanding opportunity for young Nova Scotian innovators who are facing financial hardship to excel and flourish.
The application deadline is November 30th, 2016, and applications must be submitted through this online form https://www.cognitoforms.com/CFNS1/PeterKohlerScholarshipApplication

Recently, the guidance counsellors went to grade 12 classes to talk to students all about graduation and what they can expect throughout this year. If you happened to miss this presentation or want to review this information again, you can do so here.
We appreciated Dr. Daniel Chorney coming to CPA to speak to parents/guardians and staff on school and student anxiety on September 20th. For those who could not attend this informative session or did attend and would like the documents from the presentation, you can access them below.
Students who have been asked to come to guidance due to a conflict in your schedule (please check the list on the bulletin board by the main office), please note the following new procedure.
We will only be seeing certain grades at certain times on Thursday, September 8th (for students asked to see guidance only).
Grade 11s – can come to guidance in the am during your field/HRM gym activity. 9:25 – 10:25
Grade 12s – can come to guidance in the am during your field/HRM gym activity. 10:25 – 10:30
Grade 10s – can come to guidance in the am during your field/HRM gym activity. 11:35-12:35
Please do not come to guidance for course issues when it is not your allotted time. You will be asked to go back to the area you should be in.
If you do not have a conflict in your schedule and are only requesting a course change, you can fill out the course change form, during lunch or between classes (not during class time), leave it in the tray, and check back in a few days (or check PowerSchool) to see if the change was possible.
All students are expected to be in all classes in the afternoon on Thursday and not in guidance looking for a course change.
NOTE: The list of courses available to change into will be posted on the window of the guidance office. If the course is not there that you want…it is full to capacity and not possible to change into.
Friday, September 9th by 3:30pm is the last day we are accepting course change requests.
