Girls JV Soccer: Forms and fees must be given to Mr. Penney by this week. See him in room 341 by tomorrow to pay up!
Vimy Trip 2017: There will be an important meeting for the students traveling to Vimy at lunch on Tuesday in room 231. All members must attend.
Picture Retakes – will take place on Thursday, October 13th!
The first meeting of the Health Action Team (HAT) will be held on Friday at lunch in the Youth Health Centre. All are welcome. Please come and brainstorm your ideas for activities and projects for the year. Should be fun! Feel free to bring your lunch.
IMPORTANT CHANGE IN DUE DATE: Students who are interested in hosting the Japanese students who will be arriving in April must take note of a change in the due date for the application. YOUR APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BY OCTOBER 11 not the 17th as previously announced.
Grade 12’s – are you unable to pay for post secondary education ? Check out the 2017 Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarships – The Horatio Alger Association of Canada provides $650,000 annually in need-based scholarship support for deserving students in all Canadian provinces and territories. Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in their final year of high school with financial need (family income under $65,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record. CEGEP students in Quebec, and all Canadian students in their final year of high school are eligible to apply in English or French. The application deadline is October 25, 2016. On Friday the University of Alberta will be here to speak with students; the University of Alberta is a larger school offering a wide variety of undergrad, professional and graduate type programs. Both presentations will be taking place at lunch in the Library Quiet Zone.
Grade 12’s – What’s the dumbest thing you have ever done with your money? Grade 12 students across Canada are invited to confess their contained financial calamity story by submitting their true-life handiwork to the CEWC 2016 Essay Contest. Prizes range from $1000 to $5000, with over 20 prizes to be won. Write an original essay that describes the dumbest thing you’ve done with your money and what you learned from it (the “Essay”). Your Essay must be between 900 and 1000 words. Essays must be submitted between Sept. 12 and Oct. 17, 2016.
